What is Computer Terminology?
The following is some terms & concepts I've learned this year:
App - Short form of application.
Binary Code - Code that the computer uses to process the information using 0 and 1. Bit - A simple unit of information in computing and digital communications. Byte - A unit of measurement. It is used to measure data. Computer - A programmable machine. CPU - Central. Processing. Unit. (Hardware inside computer) Firewall - A piece of software/hardware that creates a protective barrier between your computer and potentially harmful information on the internet. Hard-drive - The computers main storage. Hardware - Any physical piece/part of a computer system (ex. computer monitor). Input Device - Basically any device that gives information to your computer (ex. keyboard). |

Lurking - Entering a chat room, you can join in by posting your own messages. Motherboard - The foundation of any computer, also known as the main board. Netiquette - The online rules that help users while working, communicating, and utilizing resources in the online world. Output Device - a piece of computer hardware used to produce information into something you can read/see (ex. computer monitor). ROM - Read. Only. Memory. RAM - Random. Access. Memory. Software - Programs and controls information used by computers (ex. Microsoft Word). SPAM - Unwanted emails/messages also known as junk mail. USB - Universal. Serial. Bus. |
